New Zealand schools funded to build links with China

The New Zealand government on Wednesday announced that 25 schools will be funded to promote exchanges with Chinese schools.
The schools would each receive up to 2,500 NZ dollars (1,684 U.S. dollars) from the China-New Zealand Sister School Fund, which was announced during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to New Zealand in November 2014.
Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment Minister Steven Joyce said the fund enabled schools to support staff or student exchanges, curriculum-based collaborative projects, and to offer enhanced Chinese language programs with New Zealand's largest trading partner.
The government announced in April that another 20 schools would receive funding under the scheme. Endit
