Croatia has spent 10.15 mln USD on refugee crisis so far: minister

Xinhua, October 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

Croatian Interior Minister Ranko Ostojic said on Tuesday the country has spent 70 million Kunas (about 10.15 million U.S. dollars) on the refugee crisis so far.

The money came from budgetary reserve funds, he said, adding "5 million euros (about 5.50 million U.S. dollars) in urgent aid has been approved so far."

According to the European Union's action plan, the first train with refugees from Croatia arrived in Dobova, Slovenia on Tuesday and the refugees would no longer cross the Croatian-Slovenian border elsewhere, Ostojic said.

Croatia provided 50 police officers to regulate the migrant flow in Slovenia under the call from Slovenia, he added.

A winter transit centre for refugee in Slavonski Brod, eastern Croatia, would open and first refugees would arrive by train from Sid, Serbia on Nov. 2, he said.

The new refugee transit centre will have the capacity to deal with 10,000 people. Endit
