1st LD Writethru: 7.5-magnitude quake jolts northern India

Xinhua, October 26, 2015 Adjust font size:

A massive earthquake Monday jolted northern India, including the national capital and its adjoining areas, a senior official said.

"The quake, measuring 7.5 on the Richter Scale, had its epicenter in the Hindu Kush mountains of Afghanistan. Strong tremors were felt in the Indian capital and its adjoining areas for nearly one minute," he said, on condition of anonymity.

However, there have been no reports of any immediate casualty or damage to properties, the official said, adding senior disaster officials have rushed to various areas.

Local TV channels showed footage of people rushing out of their homes and offices as soon as tremors hit the Indian capital. Endit
