Togolese president inaugurates China-donated scientific school complex

The President of Togo Faure Gnassingbe on Friday presided over the inauguration ceremony of modern scientific complex grammar school in Lome-Tokoin, a donation of China as part of long-term bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The school complex with six equipped buildings is constructed by China Railway Shisiju Group Corporation (CRCC) with a total investment of 9 billion CFA francs, about 15.12 million U.S. dollars.

The Togolese president said that it is suitable condition provided to talents of the West African country in scientific areas that are likely to drive economic and social development.

"We are making useful long-term investment as leaders of tomorrow are those who will be recruited in this school complex,"the president added.

Chinese Ambassador to Togo, Liu Yuxi also attended the ceremony.

"The construction of the school complex shows once more the willingness of China and Togo to introduce a new momentum in the China-Togo cooperation,"said Ambassador Liu.

"The cooperation ties between China and Togo are excellent and this cooperation, which is expanding in different areas, is of win-win nature," he added.

The complex comprises 24 equipped laboratories of chemistry, physics, natural and computer sciences, amphitheaters, a lunchroom and a 1400-seat football stadium.

The school complex "provide our country with a solid background for endogenous development", Komi Tchakpele, minister of primary, secondary education and vocational training said.

A representative of the school's students said that "this masterpiece increases our chance to prepare for our future." Enditem
