Schalke extend with midfielder Marco Hoeger

Schalke extended the contract of injured midfielder Marco Hoeger until 2017, the "Royal Blues" confirmed via the club's official homepage on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old midfielder, who is on the road to recovery after a ligament rupture, penned a contract extension ahead of scheduled until June 2017.
"Shortly after Marco's injury we decided to offer him a contract extension. Marco gave everything for the club in recent years. Therefore we have the responsibility to give him the necessary time to recover," Schalke's sporting director Horst Heldt said.
Hoeger joined Schalke from Alemnia Aachen in July 2011 to provide nine assists and seven goals in 87 Bundesliga appearances ever since.
"The contract extension gives me additional strength and motivation for my further recovery. I keep working hard in order to be available soon for the team," Hoeger said.
The "Royal Blues" clash with Sparta Prague in UEFA Europa League's third round of the group stage on Thursday. Endit
