Brazil wants Finnish input in its education system

Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, describing the Finnish education system as an international norms setter, said on Tuesday that Brazil wants to increase bilateral cooperation with Finland on training teachers.

Rousseff made the remarks during her two-day official visit to Finland. She met Finnish President Sauli Niinisto and Prime Minister Juha Sipila.

At a press conference in Helsinki on Tuesday, Rousseff dismissed claims that her country would be drifting towards insolvency. She assured Brazil would be able to handle its debt.

"We suffer from the international economic crisis in the way the EU and the U.S. do," she said.

Besides education, the themes of the visit included technology and innovations. Rousseff also visited Aalto University, a pioneering comprehensive university focusing on industrial design located in Espoo, west to Helsinki. Endit
