Southern Belgian city of Namur in push to attract Chinese tourists

Xinhua, October 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

The southern Belgian city of Namur has unveiled a strategy to attract more Chinese tourists, French-language newspaper Le Soir reported on Saturday.

According to the newspaper, the Namur Province Tourism Federation will set up a presence on Chinese social networks, tailor tour packages specifically for Chinese clientele and produce brochures in their native language.

Namur, about 65 km southeast of Brussels, is the capital of Belgium's French-speaking Wallonia region, and the nearby Liege airport is served by direct flights from Xianyang, Tianjin and Shenyang as well as Lufthansa flights to Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong via Munich.

A Chinese-language brochure using augmented reality technology will be distributed to Chinese tour operators, Le Soir reported, offering readers a look at what Namur and the nearby riverside village of Dinant can offer.

The tourist board also plans to use Chinese social networks to promote the area and invite leading travel bloggers to visit and discover the region. Publishing house Deschamps will also produce a magazine looking at the wider Wallonia region. Endit
