Tokyo shares open slightly higher ahead of BOJ decision

Tokyo shares opened the trading Wednesday slightly higher as investors are waiting for the Bank of Japan's monetary decision to be made due later the day in its policy meeting.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched up 4.50 points, or 0.02 percent, from Tuesday to 18,190.60.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 5.44 points, or 0.37 percent, to 1,481. 28. Endi
