India, Germany to deploy armed marshals on certain flights

In a bid to counter any hijacking attempt, armed marshals will be deployed on certain flights between India and Germany.

Both countries on Monday inked a pact to this regard, which is among the 18 agreements signed, in front of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The agreement titled "carriage of in-flight security officers within a short time-frame" was signed by India's junior Home Minister Kiren Rijiju and his German counterpart Gunter Krings.

Both the ministers also discussed the threats faced by the two countries from the Islamic State militants and mulled ways to counter such threats. Endi
