British FTSE 100 increases 2.76 pct on Monday

FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Monday increased by 2.76 percent, or 168.94 points, to 6,298.92 points.

The London stock ended higher despite negative services data from Britain.

British services purchasing managers' index (PMI), a gauge measuring the industry activity, fell to 53.3 in September from 55.6 in August, a survey has indicated.

Besides, the final Markit Eurozone PMI Composite Output Index posted 53.6, down from 54.3 in August and below the earlier flash estimate of 53.9.

Share price of Glencore increased by 16.74 percent, topping the gainers of the blue chips. Standard Chartered, Antofagasta, Aberdeen Asset Management and Royal Dutch Shell 'A' increased by 5.95 percent, 5.30 percent, 5.12 percent and 4.85 percent respectively. Endit
