Three unidentified assailants have been regarded as murderers of a Japanese national in Bangladesh on Saturday which was the second attack claimed by Islamic State (IS) group jihadists, local police said Sunday.
Japanese national Hoshi Kunio, 66, was gunned down by unidentified assailants at about 11:00 a.m. local time on Saturday morning in Bangladesh's northwestern Rangpure district, about 300 km away of capital Dhaka, on a rickshaw as he was making his way to visit his grass farm.
Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Ranpur's Kaunia Police Station, filed the lawsuit.
SITE, a jihadist threat monitoring portal, on its website has reported that the IS has claimed responsibility for Kunio's murder .
But the authenticity of the statement has not been confirmed by Bangladesh Police.
Japan has advised its citizens to limit their movement in Bangladesh.
Apart from Japan, a number of countries have also reportedly issued travel warnings for their nationals in Bangladesh.
Earlier IS claimed the killing of an Italian national, identified as Tavela Ceaser, in the Bangladeshi capital city of Dhaka.
No one has so far been arrested over either of the killings, but six people have been detained for quizzing over the murder of the Japanese national. Endi
