Saudi police find bomb-making factory in Riyadh, 2 arrested

Xinhua, October 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Saudi Interior Ministry said on Saturday that security forces found a bomb-making factory inside a house in the capital Riyadh and arrested a Syrian man and a Filipina, Al Arabiya News reported.

Syrian national Yasser Mohammed Al Barazi planted high explosives in the house, which security personnel took 12 hours to remove and dismantle, the ministry said.

Filipina Lady Joy had been convinced by the man to convert to Islam before she was reported missing by her sponsor more than one year ago.

She was assigned to make explosive belts, of which two ready-to-use belts were found at the house.

Also, the ministry announced the discovery of a hideout in Riyadh to shelter fugitives and get suicide bombers ready, Al Akhbariya local news channel reported.

Saudi Arabia has been fighting terrorism for years, but the efforts increased after a number of suicide blasts that targeted a number of mosques. Endit
