Xinhua, September 30, 2015 Adjust font size:

The leaders of China and Cuba have exchanged congratulations on the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

In a message co-signed Monday by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang to Cuban leader Raul Castro, Xi and Li said the Chinese government cherishes its traditional friendship with Cuba, will spare no effort to deepen mutual trust and cooperation, and will consistently support Cuba's fight for maintaining national sovereignty and against foreign interference.

China will take the 55th anniversary as an opportunity to make joint efforts with Cuba to further promote China-Cuba ties, the message read.

In his message, Castro, president of the Council of State of Cuba and president of the Council of Ministers of Cuba, said Cuba will make unremitting efforts to strengthen unity and friendship between the two countries and advance the comprehensive development of bilateral ties.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez also exchanged congratulations. Endi
