Japan defeats Hong Kong 89-62 at Asian Championship

Japan downed the Hong Kong team 89-62 at the 2015 Asian Championship of men's basketball here on Tuesday.

Both teams enjoyed half of the first quarter with Japan having a 14-8 start and Hong Kong responding with a 12-7.

The Hong Kong side once had a 28-21 lead at the beginning of the second quarter following a 8-0 run. Japan fought back with three-pointers and Takeuchi Joji put Japan ahead by hitting straight three shots in the paint.

The Japanese showed their true colors with a 20-3 streak after the halftime break. Hong Kong was never able to narrow the deficit as Japan once led by 30 points in the final quarter.

Four Japan players scored double-digits, led by 19 points from Hiejima Makoto. Wong Chun Wai had a team-high 14 points for Hong Kong.
