Feyenoord moved up to the second place in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday by beating PEC Zwolle 2-0 in Rotterdam.

Feyenoord distanced themselves from PEC in the second half. Dirk Kuyt smashed home a cross by Rick Karsdorp to make it 1-0 and Eljero Elia netted the second goal.

On Saturday league leaders Ajax beat FC Groningen 2-0 in Amsterdam. Nemanja Gudelj opened the scoring with free kick in the 23rd minute. Early in the second half Ajax wasted several good opportunities, but substitute Viktor Fischer finished the job with a subtle chip after a fine solo effort.

Heracles Almelo, which started the seventh match round as number two, led their second defeat of the season at AZ Alkmaar (3-1). Markus Henriksen and Jeffrey Gouweleeuw produced the early home goals, Jaroslav Navratil narrowed the margin with fifteen minutes to go, but Muamer Tankovic secured the home victory with a chip shortly afterwards.

Reigning champions PSV had a difficult evening against NEC (2-1). Luuk de Jong put PSV in front with his seventh goal of the season, but he was also substituted with an ankle injury, caused by a tackle of Marcel Ritzmaier, at half-time. Christian Santos equalized from the penalty spot, but Jurgen Locadia became match winner in Eindhoven with a header in the 76th minute.

After their sixth win in seven matches Ajax kept the top spot of the table with 19 points, followed by Feyenoord (16), Heracles Almelo (15), PEC Zwolle (14) and PSV (14). Endi
