Grand fund-raising charity show launched in Myanmar for flood rehabilitation

Xinhua, September 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

A grand fund-raising charity show was launched in Myanmar's Yangon for flood victims' rehabilitation with the participation by noted artists from China and Myanmar. Artists of the two countries were invited to take part in the performance with their songs and dances aimed at encouraging the victims and raising more charity funds to support Myanmar people's reconstruction of their damaged houses.

The charity show called on people to enthusiastically make donation through some special hot lines provided.

The charity show started with a program of "Candle Praying" performed by children and ended with a mighty song " the Song of China-Myanmar Friendship".

Since mid July, Myanmar experienced continuous heavy rainfall that killed over one hundred people, affected nearly 1 million population and destroyed over 486,000 hectares of farmland.

With 12 regions and states out of 14 suffering the disaster, it can be said that the degree of seriousness of the disaster was never seen in five decades with houses submerged, bridges destroyed, water, electricity and roads being cut.

The Chinese government, non-governmental organizations, enterprises and well-wishers rushed and extended their helping hands to the Myanmar victims. Endi
