Xinhua summary of Asia-Pacific stocks news at 1100 GMT, Sept. 25

Chinese shares closed lower on Friday as the country 's slowing growth continued to weigh on market sentiment.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went down 1.6 percent to end at 3,092.35 points, and the Shenzhen Component Index lost 3.26 percent to close at 9,904.76 points.

Total turnover on the two bourses came in at 561.8 billion yuan (88 billion U.S. dollars), up from the 540 billion the previous trading day.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended lower on Friday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) fell 4. 25 points, or 0.22 percent, to settle at 1,942.85. Trading volume stood at 789.82 million shares worth 4.18 trillion won (3.5 billion U.S. dollars).

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks ended 1.76 percent higher Friday amid hopes that both a U.S. interest rate hike and further easing by the Bank of Japan may be on the way.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 308.68 points, from Thursday at 17,880.51. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 26.84 points, or 1.88 percent, higher at 1,453.81.

The turnover was 2,805.50 billion yen (about 23.35 billion U.S. dollars).

SYDNEY -- The Aussie market has closed a volatile trading day slight softer despite gains at the open on Friday.

At the close on Friday, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was 29.6 points, or 0.58 per cent, lower at 5,042.1, while the broader All Ordinaries index was down 25.7 points, or 0.5 per cent, at 5,076.6.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks moved up 90.34 points, or 0.43 percent, to close at 21,182.32 points on Friday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 20,957.99 and 21, 318.33. Turnover totaled 69.06 billion HK dollars (about 8.91 billion U.S. dollars).

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 570.38 points on Friday, up 0.13 points, or 0.02 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

About 79.089 million shares worth 1.878 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND (85.83 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 114 stocks went up, 95 stocks fell down, while 73 stocks remained unchanged.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX- Index, closed at 78.67 points on Friday, up 0.07 points, or 0.08 percent, against the previous trading session.

A total of around 28.925 million shares worth some 343.2 billion Vietnamese dong (some 15.74 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Friday, a decrease of 30.84 percent in volume and 31.27 percent in value against the previous trading session.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market finished on Friday up 0.23 percent against the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index increased by 2.78 points to 1,229.23. A total of 2,834 shares worth about 17 million Lao kip (about 2,000 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

JAKARTA -- Indonesian shares closed lower by 34.99 points, or 0. 82 percent, to 4,209.44 on Friday.

Some 241,397 transactions were booked, involving 6.11 billion shares worth 5.10 trillion rupiah (about 347.38 million U.S. dollars).

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks finished lower on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 13.10 points, or 0.46 percent, to close at 2,832.64.

A total of 1.37 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 19 billion Singapore dollars (838 million U.S. dollars).

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Friday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,615.01 up 1.84 points or 0.11 percent, and the Emas was at 11,165.38 up 12.35 points or 0.11 percent.

Turnover declined to 1.66 billion shares valued at 1.95 billion ringgit Malaysia (444.19 million U.S. dollars), compared with 1.78 billion shares valued at 2.12 billion ringgit Malaysia (487.36 million U.S. dollars) on Wednesday.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Friday moved up 4.48 points, or 0.33 percent to close at 1,376.83 points.
