Croatian businesses call for solution to traffic blockade with Serbia

Xinhua, September 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

Croatian businesses called for a swift solution to a traffic blockade between Croatia and Serbia over the migrant influx, warning it would affect the country's economy, local media reported Friday.

There was still room to find a solution, they said, adding otherwise huge costs and losses may be incurred.

Serbia launched counter measures halting entry of Croatian commodities early Thursday following Croatia banning cargo traffic from Serbia in the only open border crossing between the two neighbors.

The biggest Croatian private food group Agrokor said that its companies had already suffered losses due to the blockade, according to reports.

It was difficult to estimate possible damage at the moment, Croatian food company Podravka said in a statement, adding it hoped that an agreement would be reached soon to avert any negative consequences. Enditem
