Albania invests 4 bln USD in infrastructure during past 20 years: minister

Xinhua, September 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

Albanian Transport and Infrastructure Minister Edmond Haxhinasto said on Thursday that Albania has invested substantially in infrastructure, about 4 billion U.S. dollars had been invested in the last 20 years for the expansion and development of infrastructure.

The needs for infrastructure are enormous because the effects of this kind of investment are very large, Haxhinasto emphasized.

"Road standardization is a process that has long begun and now is towards its end. We are establishing a set of unique road standards in Albania. This is necessary as regards the link with regional road network," Haxhinasto said.

He went on saying that "it is imperative to continue to raise awareness of policy makers, institutions and companies that implement works, on quality."

According to Haxhinasto, every investment must be coordinated with Albania's neighbors in order to be more compatible in standardizing infrastructure and setting it under a maintenance and development base. Enditem
