Luis Enrique accepts defeat in Vigo

Xinhua, September 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

FC Barcelona crashed to their worst league defeat in eight years on Wednesday night as they lost 4-1 away to Celta Vigo on a difficult night for Barca coach Luis Enrique, who saw his side outrun, outfought and outplayed by his former club.

Speaking after the game, the Barca coach had few problems in admitting Celta's superiority as they destroyed Barca's 100 percent record in the league and overtook them in the classification.

"People saw Celta's level today and that is why we lost," he said, commenting the side from Galicia had "played a game in every sense of the word. They played a very complete game, making a lot of chances," he said.h He rejected accusations that Barca had lacked intensity in their play, "we had six or seven chances to score and it is odd that we didn't take any of them. It is strange that we not taking chances, because if we had taken them, then there would be no problem," explained the Barca coach, who highlighted, "we had several chances before Celta scored."

Nevertheless Enrique said that if he had to lose, he would rather do so against a side such as Celta which played open expansive football.

"When the rival has been better than you, I would rather lose against a side like Celta which plays with no tricks, with the grass cut shot and playing good football," he said.

The news came the same day that FIFA denied Barca the possibility of inscribing Arda Turan into the squad to replace the injured Rafinha, despite that decision, Enrique insisted his squad was deep enough.

"I have the alternatives that I have and I am delighted with the squad. This defeat shows is how hard it is to win the league," he concluded. Endit
