Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday reassured U.S. business leaders on the positive aspects of the Chinese economy and called for boosting Sino-American win-win cooperation in trade.

"The trend of China's economy toward growth and expansion has not changed," Xi said at a China-U.S. CEO roundtable discussion in Seattle on the second day of his weeklong visit to the United States.

BRUSSELS -- Leaders of European Union (EU) member states gathered in Brussels Wednesday afternoon for an informal summit to discuss an overall approach to the refugee crisis and the necessity to establish a credible European migration policy.

UNITED NATIONS -- UN chief Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday welcomed the formal reinstatement of President Michel Kafando and of the transitional institutions in Burkina Faso a week after a military takeover in the West African country, calling on "all national stakeholders to exercise restraint."
