Dortmund drop points, Monchengladbach, Stuttgart break the spell

Xinhua, September 24, 2015 Adjust font size:

Hoffenheim held Dortmund to a 1-1 draw while Stuttgart and Monchengladbach were able to halt their negative run at the 6th round of Bundesliga on Wednesday.

Front-runners Dortmund dropped points for the first time this season as Hoffenheim reaped a 1-1 draw on home soil. However, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang broke a Bundesliga record by scoring at least once in one of the first six games of the season.

The "BVB" took the reins from the kick-off but were unable to work out clear-cut opportunities. Thus, Hoffenheim punished the visitors with the opener as Sebastian Rudy made use of a through ball by Eduardo Vargas to beat Dortmund keeper Roman Buerki into the far post with three minutes remaining in the first half.

The hosts had the chance to double the lead but Kevin Volland's effort was denied by the woodwork after the restart. Dortmund cut a better figure in front of Hoffenheim's goal area ten minutes into the second half, as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang restored parity from close range to mark his seventh goal of the season.

Thomas Tuchel's men picked up the pace after the equalizer but they lacked in accuracy to grab a win on the road as Gonzalo Castro and Adrian Ramos missed from promising positions.

With the 1-1 draw Dortmund hand Bayern the top spot in the table while Hoffenheim slip to the 17th place with only two points from six games.

Elsewhere, bottom side Monchengladbach stopped their negative run of five consecutive defeats thanks to the 4-2 victory over Augsburg. The "Foals" established a four-goal lead within 16 minutes through Fabian Johnson, Granit Xhaka, Lars Stindl and Mahmoud Dahoud before Augsburg's Paul Verhaegh reduced the arrears to 4-2 with two converted foul play penalties at the second half.

Also Stuttgart recovered from their five-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over Hannover. Christian Gentner, Timo Werner and Alexandru Maxim cancelled out Kenan Karaman's opener to ensure the first points of the season.

Schalke climb onto the third place of the Bundesliga standings with a hard earned 2-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt and Javier Hernandez' first Bundesliga goal ensured Leverkusen a 1-0 win over Mainz. Endit
