Four police were killed and three others injured as a roadside bomb struck the vehicle of district police chief in Dawlatabad district of northern Balkh province on Tuesday, a senior police officer said.

"A mine planted by militants struck the vehicle of Sabawon Rogh, the police chief of Dawlatabad district at around 10:00 a.m. local time, killing him and three others on the spot," Abdul Razaq Qaderi, deputy to district police chief, told reporters here.

Three more police sustained injuries in the attack, he added.

Investigation has been initiated, Qaderi said without giving more details. Endi
