Brazilian expert says Xi's U.S. tour to improve bilateral cooperation

Xinhua, September 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chinese President Xi Jinping's upcoming visit to the United States will help boost cooperation between the two countries, said Argemiro Procopio, professor of international relations at the University of Brasilia.

Procopio, author of the book "In the Eye of the Eagle" in which he analyzes how China's development has changed international ties, told Xinhua this visit is a good opportunity to improve cooperation and remove misunderstandings.

The expert said that Xi's visit will also help further enhance cultural exchanges between the two countries.

"The presence of Chinese people in the United States dates back to the 19th century when many Chinese immigrants worked as laborers, particularly on the Transcontinental Railroad. Since then, the number of Chinese scientists and students coming to the United States has expanded," Procopio said.

People-to-people exchanges offered the best chance to establish closer cooperation between the United States and China, he said. Endi
