Monchengladbach' s Under-23 coach Andre Schubert takes the helm of the senior team for the time being, the "Foals" announced in an official press conference on Monday.
After yesterday' s surprising resignation by head coach Lucien Favre, Monchengladbach have appointed their Under-23 coach Andre Schubert as the caretaker for now.
"After the surprising resignation of Lucien Favre we are now looking for a new head coach. Until further notice, Ander Schubert will be in charge in tandem with assistant coaches Frank Geideck, Manfred Stefes and goalkeeping coach Uwe Kamps. Andre is experienced and enjoys our full confidence," Monchengladbach' s sporting director Max Eberl said.
Former coach Lucien Favre stepped down out of the blue after poor performances. The 57-year-old coach took the reins in 2011 to lead the "Foals" into the UEFA Champions League. However, Monchengladbach started with five defeats in as many games into the Bundesliga season, which is a negative record in the club' s history.
"It goes without saying that I will help the club in the current situation. We have clear agreements and I am looking forward to work with the team the next games," interim coach Ander Schubert said.
Schubert and last placed "Foals" clash with 14th placed Augsburg at the sixth round in Bundesliga on Wednesday. Endi
