Symposium held to commemorate late Zhi Gong Party leader

A symposium on Monday in Beijing marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Dong Yinchu, a non-communist party leader.

Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended the symposium.

Dong was a well-known leader of patriotic overseas Chinese and served as vice chairman of the eighth CPPCC National Committee.

Dong also served as chairman of the ninth and tenth central committees of the Zhi Gong Party, a non-communist party in China, as well as honorary chairman of the China Zhi Gong Party central committee.

Sun Chunlan, head of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, called upon officials to learn from Dong's patriotism and lifelong dedication to serving overseas Chinese.

Dong died in 2009. Endit
