23 Taliban killed in cleanup operations in E. Afghanistan

The Afghan security forces have killed 23 Taliban militants and liberated several villages from the hardliner insurgents, the Interior Ministry said on Monday.

According to the ministry, the operations were launched in the mountainous Kot district, during which 17 more militants sustained injuries and another one was arrested.

Kot district has been regarded as the hotbed of militants in the eastern Nangarhar province and the cleanup operations, according to the ministry, would last until wiping out of all Taliban fighters from the district.

The Taliban militants have yet to make comment. Endi
