UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Sunday condemned "recent rocket attacks by extremist Palestinian militants on Israel from Gaza."

"Such indiscriminate attacks on civilian areas risk a dangerous escalation and must stop," the secretary-general said in a statement. "The people of southern Israel and Gaza have suffered enough from such violence." (UN-Israel-Gaza)

ATHENS -- Greece's former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras welcomed the results of Sunday's early general elections as a new "clear mandate" by Greek people for a four year term in office. ' Addressing a crowd of his radical left SYRIZA supporters at the party's central campaign kiosk in a square near the parliament building in Athens, the 41-year-old leader pledged to "continue the fight for peoples' rights in Greece and abroad." VIENNA -- The chief of the UN nuclear agency visited Parchin, one of the most sensitive military sites of Iran, during his trip to the country, the agency said on Sunday.

Parchin is considered to be one of the most important and sensitive issues of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)'s probe of Iran's nuclear plan, and the agency said it wanted to get the full access of the site, not only to collect sample. (IAEA-Iran)

JERUSALEM -- Israel has deployed two anti-missile batteries near in the south after rocket fire from the Gaza Strip over the weekend, fearing a security escalation, Israeli media reported Sunday.

The two Iron Dome anti-missile batteries were deployed near the southern towns of Sderot and Netivot following last week's rocket barrages to shield against more possible rockets, the Walla! news website reported. (Israel-Palestine) Endi
