Xinhua, September 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Heracles Almelo caused the surprise of the Eredivisie weekend by beating PSV 2-1 on Saturday and claiming the top spot of the league for one day with Ajax getting the first place back again on Sunday.

In the 2nd minute already Luuk de Jong headed PSV in front in Almelo, but Heracles bounced back through two beautiful strikes from outside the penalty area by Mark-Jan Fledderus and Thomas Bruns before half-time. With their fifth win in a row Heracles temporarily took over the top of the table from Ajax.

On Sunday Ajax had the chance to take the lead again by beating Excelsior in Rotterdam and they did. Eredivisie topscorer Anwar El Ghazi produced his 7th goal of the season after finishing a rush. Arek Milik doubled the lead three minutes from half-time to make it 2-0, the final score.

Also on Sunday Feyenoord drew 1-1 against Roda JC Kerkrade. On a cross by Rick Karsdorp striker Michiel Kramer opened the scoring with a header and Hicham Faik equalized on behalf of the home-team with a free-kick.

PEC Zwolle claimed their fourth victory of the season on Saturday by defeating ADO Den Haag at home. Havenaar gave the visitors the lead, but Sheraldo Becker and Lars Veldwijk led PEC to the 2-1 win.

Ajax now lead the standings with 16 points from 6 matches, followed by Heracles (15), PEC (14), Feyenoord (13), PSV (11) and Roda (11). Endi
