Bayern Munich maintained their prefect record with a 3-0 victory over newly promoted Darmstadt whereas Cologne inflicted Monchengladbach the fifth loss at the fifth round of Bundesliga on Saturday.

Josep Guardiola's men reaped their fifth win in as many games after beating newly promoted Darmstadt 3-0 on the road. It is the first loss for the Bundesliga newcomers so far.

Bayern Munich dominated the encounter against resilient hosts, who were able to keep the German giants on the distance until the 20th minute before Arturo Vidal hammered home the opener into the bottom right.

However, Darmstadt kept it bowling and were able to threat Bayern defence with promising chances through Marcel Heller and Dominik Stroh-Engel. Despite Bayern's powerful performance they lacked to turn their chances into a tangible reward.

Things changes after the interval as Sebastian Rode's build up play allowed Bayern's new arrival Kingsley Coman to score his first goal by slotting home into the bottom left. Rode was again in the thick of things moments later after making the game safe with the 3-0 lead at the 63rd minute.

With the fifth game in as many games, Bayern Munich take the lead in the table for now meanwhile Darmstadt slump to 12th place.

Wolfsburg craved out a 2-0 victory against Berlin thanks to two second half goals by substitute striker Bas Dost.

After a goalless but contested first-half, the "Wolves" picked up the pace at the second half to break the deadlock with 76 minutes into the game through Dutchman Bas Dost, who made use of Daniel Caligiuri's assist, five minutes after his fielding.

Dost sealed his brace and the third victory of the season with a converted foul play penalty in the dying minutes of the game.

With the result, Wolfsburg climb on the third place while Berlin slip to the 11th place after suffering their second loss.

Cologne extended Monchengladbach's losing streak to five games, as Anthony Modeste's header remained the only goal of the game. It is the first victory for Cologne at the Rhine derby since seven years.

With the fifth loss in as many games, the "Foals" remain caught in Bundesliga bottom with zero points whilst Cologne jump on the fourth place.

Elsewhere, 10-men Bremen lost 1-0 to newcomers Ingolstadt as Moritz Hartmann converted a foul play penalty in the stoppage time before Bremen's Philipp Bargfrede saw a straight red card for a rude foul.

Hamburg and Frankfurt shared the spoils following a goalless draw after 90 minutes.

The following fixtures conclude the fifth round on Sunday: Stuttgart encounter Schalke, second placed Dortmund clash with Bayer Leverkusen and Augsburg face Hannover. Endi
