Hamas militants seize Israeli drone falling on Gaza

Xinhua, September 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Hamas movement militants seized an Israeli reconnaissance drone that fell on northern Gaza Strip, the second within two months, a Hamas official said Saturday.

The official, who spoke to Xinhua on condition of anonymity, said the second drone fell on agricultural field at the outskirts of the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahia, adding the farmer who found the drone handed it to Hamas.

He said that the Israeli drones are falling on the Gaza Strip either on purpose or due to technical errors.

Hamas armed wing, better known as al-Qassam Brigades hasn't officially made any comments, while Israeli army officials made no immediate comments to the report.

In July 22, Hamas announced that it seized a Sky-Lark 1 drone that also fell on northern Gaza Strip. It said that it checked the drone out, dismantled it and then rebuilt it and now it is used by the brigades.

Overnight, Israeli war jets carried out three airstrikes targeting training facilities to the group in response to earlier rockets firing from the Gaza Strip into Israel.
