India says not to get involved in any ASEAN disputes

Xinhua, September 19, 2015 Adjust font size:

India has reportedly made it clear that it would not get involved in any territorial or maritime disputes of ASEAN countries.

"India has a very clear cut view on Southeast Asia. We want to develop a comprehensive relationship based on satisfaction of each other's requirement," Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari told the media on board of his chartered aircraft as he returned to the country late on Friday.

"If there is no peace and stability, there will be no trade, there will be no investment. But if they have any problems amongst themselves, it is for them to resolve. ASEAN has its own mechanism for resolving problems."

Ansari returned to India after wrapping up his four-day tour in Cambodia and Laos. Endi
