Uruguayan stars Suarez, Cavani out from World Cup South American zone qualifying

Uruguayan stars Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani will not be part of the squad that will face Bolivia and Colombia in the South American Qualifying tournament towards Russia 2018, local media reported on Friday.

Coach Oscar Tabarez made public the 23-player list where Suarez, from Spain's Barcelona, and Cavani, from France's Paris Saint Germain, are not included.

The list includes forwards Diego Rolan (France's Bordeaux), Jonathan Rodriguez (Spain's Deportivo La Coruna), Abel Hernandez (England's Hull City) and Cristhian Stuani (Middlesbrough).

Midfielders include Giorgian De Arrascaeta (Brazil's Cruzeiro), Cristian Rodriguez (Argentina's Independiente), Nicolas Lodeiro (Argentina's Boca Juniors), Alvaro Gonzalez (Mexico's Atlas), Carlos Sanchez (Argentina's River Plate), Camilo Mayada (Argentina's River Plate), and Egidio Arevalo (Mexico's Tigres).

Defenders include Jose Maria Gimenez and Diego Godin (Spain's Atletico de Madrid), Maximiliano Pereira (Portugal's Porto), Alvaro Pereira (Argentina's Estudiantes), Emiliano Velazquez (Spain's Getafe), Mathias Corujo (Chile's U de Chile), Sebastian Coates (England's Sunderland), Gaston Silva (Italy's Torino) and Martin Caceres (Italy's Juventus).

Fernando Muslera (Turkey's Galatasaray), Martin Silva (Brazil's Vasco da Gama) and Rodrigo Munoz (Paraguay's Libertad) are the goalkeepers.

Uruguay will face Bolivia in La Paz on Oct. 8 and Colombia in Montevideo on Oct. 13. Endi
