Nepal's CA chairman puts final signature on new constitution

Xinhua, September 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

Chairman of Nepal's Constituent Assembly (CA) Subhas Nembang on Friday put a final signature on the new constitution which is due to be promulgated on Sunday.

The much-delayed constitution will come into effect on September 20 once it is unveiled by President Ram Baran Yadav amid a special function to be organized at the Constituent Assembly building in the Nepalese capital.

The constitution-making body endorsed the constitution bill with an overwhelming two-thirds majority on Wednesday.

According to the constitution, Nepal will have seven provinces and each with its own legislature.

The country approved an interim constitution in 2007 following the people's movement in 2006 that toppled the 240-year monarchy. Nepal began working on the new constitution in 2008. Endi
