1st LD Writethru: Indian fisherman killed in firing off western Indian coast

Xinhua, September 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

An Indian fisherman has been killed in firing in international waters off the coast of the western state of Gujarat, sources said Friday.

"The boat, called Prem Raj, had set sail from the port of Okha with five fishermen on board some 10 days back," the sources said.

One fisherman, named Iqbal, has been killed in the firing and nothing is known about the other four who were on board the vessel when it was fired upon, they said.

However, it is not clear if the vessel was fired at for unintentionally venturing into Pakistani territorial waters, the sources said.

Indian Coast Guard has rushed a ship to investigate the incident, the sources added. Endi
