During a meeting with Zulkifli Hasan, chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia (MPR) on Thursday, top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng called for closer cooperation between the two countries.

Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said that as China and Indonesia were in critical periods of national development there was immense potential for cooperation.

"China is ready to work with Indonesia to implement the consensus between the leaders of the two countries, join our development strategies, boost win-win cooperation in infrastructure and other sectors, increase people-to-people exchanges and exchanges on sub-national levels, and strengthen coordination in international and regional affairs," Yu said during the meeting.

The CPPCC values the friendly relationship with the MPR, and will increase exchanges with the Indonesian side, Yu said.

For his part, Zulkifli said Indonesia was ready to cooperate with China more closely. He hoped his visit would help to elevate the relationship between the two parliaments as well between the two countries. Endi
