Street shooting kills 3, injures 3 in S. Africa

Xinhua, September 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least three people were shot dead and another three injured on Wednesday in a gunfight in the CBD of Durban, police said.

"Netcare 911 paramedics and the provincial ambulance services arrived at the scene and were faced with carnage," said Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha, adding that investigation is still going on.

The three injured people had been sent to hospital.

Police captured at least five handguns and three rifles after the shoot-out at a taxi rank behind the old railway station in Durban. Paramedics said they had never seen so many automatic weapons at one scene.

Netcare 911 initially said that six people had been shot dead, but police at the scene later said the death toll was three. Endi
