Tokyo stocks rise 0.81 pct following Wall St. gains

Tokyo stocks rose 0.81 percent Wednesday following overnight gains on Wall Street.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was up 145.12 points, from Tuesday at 18,171.60. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 10.36 points, or 0.71 percent, to 1,472.60.

Gainers were led by rubber products, air transport and transport equipment issues.

The turnover was 2,152.03 billion yen (about 17.90 billion U.S. dollars). Endi
