All 15 listed missing people in Japan's Ibaraki flooding confirmed safe

Xinhua, September 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

All 15 people who were reportedly missing in flooding last week in Japan's Joso city, north of Tokyo, have been confirmed safe, local media reported Tuesday.

The Ibaraki Prefecture, where the Kinugawa River burst its banks last Thursday, had reported 15 people missing as of Saturday morning. However, all the people have been found safe until Tuesday afternoon, said Japan's Kyodo News Agency.

Police and firefighters are continuing their search operations in the prefecture as the whole picture of the damage is not yet known.

According to the report, the death toll from the torrential rain that also battered other parts of Japan has reached seven, with three killed in Tochigi Prefecture, two in Ibaraki and two in Miyagi. Endi
