"All the states should learn lessons from the current refugee crisis, to respect the principles of sovereignty and independence of other states, so as to avoid violation of human rights in the home country of the refugees," Ren Yisheng, a Chinese representative, noted during the meeting.
During the general debate Ren also reaffirmed China's strong commitment to the United Nations Charter and the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence.
Ren added that China hoped that the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights would provide sufficient resources for the implementation of the right to development.
