Xinhua, September 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

Cambodian deputy prime minister and foreign minister Hor Namhong on Monday expressed the country's desire to expand ties and cooperation with Iran and hoped the two countries would soon reach a cooperation agreement on oil and gas sector, a Cambodian senior official said.

Hor Namhong expressed the country's wish for closer relations with Iran during a meeting with outgoing ambassador of Iran to Cambodia Hossein Behineh, according to foreign ministry spokesman Chum Sounry.

"The deputy prime minister expressed Cambodia's desire to establish a Cambodia-Iran economic cooperation committee and also suggested that the two countries sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the cooperation in oil and gas as soon as possible," he told reporters after the meeting.

For his part, Hossein Behineh said Iran also wanted to see the two countries sign the MoU as soon as possible and hoped it would be reached during Hor Namhong's visit to Iran early next year. Endi
