China defeats Iran 3-0 in Asian club volleyball (updated)

The 2015 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship kicked off Saturday in Vietnam's northern Ha Nam province, some 60 km south of capital Hanoi.

China's Zhejiang club defeated Iran's Islamic Azad University 3-0 (25-7, 25-10, 25-17) in the opening game.

In the second match, 4.25 Sports club from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea also crushed the Philippines' Petron Blaze Spikes 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-11).

Also on Saturday night, Vietnam's Thong Tin Lien Viet Post Bank will play against Chinese Taipei's Taiwan Power, while Kazakhstan's Zhetyssu will fight against Thailand's Bangkok Glass.

The annual continental competition draws the participation of nine teams, including those from China, China's Taiwan, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.

The event is scheduled to last till Sept. 20.

The winner of the tournament will earn the only ticket to compete in the 2016 edition of the FIVB's Volleyball Women's Club World Championship slated for October 2016. Endi
