Zambia road accident leaves 17 people dead

At least 17 people died on the spot when a truck rammed into a public minibus in Lusaka, the Zambian capital, the police said on Saturday.

Lusaka Province Police Commissioner Charity Katanga said the accident occurred when the driver of the truck lost control due to over speeding and rammed into the stationery minibus.Among the dead included 13 males, three females and a small boy.

She said two passengers from the bus sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a local hospital.

Eyewitnesses told local media that the driver of the truck attempted to flee but was apprehended by locals. Endit
