At least 20 people were killed and 50 injured on Saturday when a gas cylinder burst at a tea stall in Jhabua district in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, which led to an explosion in a nearby building, police said.

Many are believed to be trapped under the debris of the building which was destroyed in the powerful blast. Relief and rescue works are underway.

Officials denied rumors that explosives were stored in the building, saying the blasts were caused by gas cylinders. Endi
