Santos sign former Lazio midfielder Ledesma

Brazilian club Santos on Friday confirmed the signing of former Italy international midfielder Cristian Ledesma on a two-year deal.

The 32-year-old joined the eight-time Brazilian Serie A champions as a free agent after ending his nine-year spell at Lazio in May.

Santos president Modesto Roma Junior said Ledesma still needed to be registered by Brazil's football confederation before being eligible to play. The registration is expected to be concluded early next week.

Born in Argentina, Ledesma made 318 first-team appearances for Lazio from 2006 to 2015.

Santos are currently seventh in Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings, 14 points behind leaders Corinthians. Endi
