Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met with Malawian President Peter Mutharika in Dalian city in northeast China on Thursday.

Li extended Chinese President's Xi Jinping's greeting to Mutharika.

Speaking positively of the development of China-Malawi relations, Li said China will further consolidate the two countries' friendship and expand their cooperation.

He called for more bilateral cooperation in areas including agriculture, health, education, poverty reduction and security, so as to help Malawi's economic development and improve the welfare of its people.

The Chinese government will encourage companies to participate Malawi's infrastructure and big construction projects, the premier added.

Mutharika thanked China for its assistance. He said Malawi wishes to learn from China's development experience and welcomes Chinese investment in infrastructure.
