Singapore stocks close 1.49 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 42. 86 points, or 1.49 percent, to close at 2,928.18.

A total of 1.33 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 24 billion Singapore dollars (873.2 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 308 to 114, while 517 others finished unchanged.

The STI gained index 32.91 points, or 1.15 percent, to close at 2,885.32 on Tuesday. Endi
