The National Ebola Response Center (NERC) in Sierra Leone has confirmed to Xinhua that three more people have tested positive of the Ebola virus on Monday after the country recorded an Ebola death last week.

NERC spokesperson Yayah Tunis said all three infected people are from the Sellakafter village and were close relatives of the 67 year old lady who recently died of the Ebola virus in the village.

This now brings to four infected people of Ebola in the country, all four have been kept in a treatment center.

Speaking by telephone this morning Tunis said they are "all relatives of the 67 year old and were among the 50 high risk cases that were being monitored by the district Ebola task force."

He said though they were concerned but "it is easier to be contained" because it is coming from the quarantined home.

He reiterated their message for people to adhere to the standard procedures by ensuring that "you don't touch or wash the dead and make sure you call 117 when your relative is sick."

He disclosed that the NERC has sent reinforcement to the affected district in its social mobilization process.

The countdown to 42 days has been hampered by these new cases and the countdown will start again when the current patient either die or are discharged from hospital, Tunis said. Endit
