Spain's housing sales rise by 13.9 pct in July

Spanish housing sales increased by 13.9 percent in July when compared with the same month in 2014, according to data published on Tuesday by Spain's Statistical Office (INE).

The INE reported that a total of 32,714 operations were registered in July, indicating that housing sales had risen for 11 consecutive months on a year-on-year basis.

Sales of second-hand houses increased by 43.1 percent in July to a total of 26,319 operations, while those of new houses fell by 38.1 percent to 6,395 purchases.

Sales of non-subsidized houses rose by 14 percent to 29,551 purchases representing 90.3 percent of the total number of operations, while sales of subsidized houses increased by 12.2 percent to 3,163 purchases in July on a year-on-year basis.

The INE also reported that in the first seven months of the year, housing sales rose by 10.5 percent.

Meanwhile, from June to July Spain's housing sales rose 7.0 percent. Endit
