5 Cambodian women killed in nightclub blaze

Xinhua, September 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

Five women died in a fire engulfing a nightclub on the southern outskirts of the Cambodian capital late Monday, a firefighting police chief said.

"Five women are confirmed dead in the blaze and two men are in critical condition," Phnom Penh municipal firefighting police chief Prum Yot told Xinhua.

The fire began at 9:00 p.m. local time (1400 GMT) and lasted more than an hour, he said, adding that it remained unclear what caused the flames as an investigation was underway.

It was the second fatal fire at the nightclub after a blaze, caused by faulty wiring, killed three people and injured two others in November 2013. Endi
